finding inspiration
Today, my family and I visited Biltmore in Asheville, NC. It is America’s largest privately owned home and is full of all kinds of art, from thousands of etchings to Renoir paintings. We have season tickets and go in every time of year. This time was special, but they always are. Just walking around the 250 room house and soaking in the art and antiques from the time George Vanderbilt built his country home in 1895 causes me to want to be creative and make more art.
Seeing this spectacular, no-expense-was-too-great home gets my juices flowing and puts me in the “zone” as my mentor says. What is it about seeing great art that makes me want to get busy and make my own art? I’m not sure Mr. Vanderbilt would think my art well-suited for his Biltmore, but I can’t help myself in making my narrative fiber wall hangings after visiting this inspiring charmer.
